Songfinch, described as a personalised song creation company, has closed its Seed Financing Round by securing investments from Canadian artist Abel ‘The Weeknd’ Tesfaye, Atlantic Records CEO Craig Kallman, SALXCO| XO Records Founder and CEO Wassim ‘SAL’ Slaiby, School of Rock CEO Rob Price,Reverb.com founder David Kalt and Michael Keiser. Songfinch was co-founded and operated in Chicago, IL by John Williamson, Rob Lindquist, Scott Kituna nd Josh Kaplan.The platform has so far helped create over 20,000 original songs. “Songfinch gave me the opportunity to send an extraordinary musical gift that proved so moving and emotional for all the people I sent it to. The creativity and impact of this service is truly remarkable and I had no hesitation becoming an investor,” said Kallman.
Jamestown Revival band members and artist manager Aston Teague have launched creator-to-fan platform Crowdmouth, which allows fans to share content from their favorite creators in exchange for points, then redeem those points for personal, unique rewards offered directly from the creator. Crowdmouth closed an early-stage fundraising round of $750,000 in March 2021 and is planning to launch it first equity round at the end of Q3 2021. Current Beatport CEO RobbMc Daniels has been named Chairman of the Board of Directors in April, advising the start-up on issues ranging from strategy to fundraising, and strategic partnerships. Other key advisers to Crowdmouth include Maria Ho-Burge (TuneCore/Believe), Tom Gimbel (Austin City Limits), Pieter van Rijn (FUGA), Matt Pelling (Loopmasters) and artist manager Marc Friedenberg. "Crowdmouth was built out of the desire to give Creators like ourselves a better alternative to traditional advertising, while also identifying and connecting with our best fans. It is the tool that I wish we would have had years ago," said Clay.
