Downtown Music Holdings' support division for entrepreneurial creators and their partners Downtown Music Services (DMS) has announced a wide range of new or renewed deals with creators for publishing administration and distribution services. DMS, which was created earlier this year by combining Downtown Music Publishing and DashGo, has recently signed administration deals with Anthony Newley, Ibeyi (pictured, below), Taj Mahal, Remi Kabaka, Steven Wilson, and Samuel Dixon, as well as renewed existing deals with Jason Isbell, Tori Amos, and Ween. In distribution, DMS has signed deals with American Authors, Cheat Codes, Hunter Hayes, Amr Diab and RAC, among others. “I'm extremely happy with the reception Downtown Music Services has received from existing and new clients alike,” says DMS Chief Operating Officer Ben Patterson. “With a truly global staff focusing entirely on serving artists and constructing the right team for each project, we're releasing some of the most exciting music on the planet just as the world is ready to get back out and hear it in all venues and formats.”
Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has completed the acquisition of Dutch games studio Nixxes Software. Terms of this transaction including the acquisition cost were not disclosed. Based in Utrecht, Netherlands, Nixxes will join PlayStation Studios Technology, Creative & Services Group "to provide high quality in-house technical and development capabilities for PlayStation Studios." "Nixxes will be a strong asset for everyone across PlayStation Studios, helping our teams focus on their most important goal, which is to create unique PlayStation content at the best possible quality,” said Hermen Hulst, Head of PlayStation Studios.
Heavy Hitters Music, a boutique music publisher specialising in sync licensing part of the Made in Memphis Entertainment (MIME) group of companies, has signed a deal with New York-based record label GSI Records to provide sync placements for GSI artists in all broadcast and non-broadcast media, including film, television, video game, and advertising industries. “GSI Records’ catalogue is full of exciting tracks that push the boundaries of genre, and we’re looking forward to helping them gain more exposure by opening up new sync opportunities,” said Jessica Vaughn, who leads Heavy Hitters as Vice President, Sync & Creative.
Warner Chappell Music Nashville has signed to a worldwide deal US songwriter, producer, and classically-trained pianist Alexander Palmer. Born and raised in Berlin, Palmer currently splits his time between Nashville and LA. “Alexander brings a unique perspective having lived and worked outside of Nashville,” says WCM Nashville President & CEO Ben Vaughn. Palmer has contributed to two No. 1 hits at country radio: Jason Aldean’s 'Got What I Got', and Dierks Bentley’s 'Somewhere on a Beach'.
