Twitch launches beta version of Soundtrack by Twitch

By Emmanuel Legrand

Twitch has unveiled Soundtrack By Twitch, a new creator's tool that the Amazon-owned live gaming platform has been developing over the past year. It will allow users to access a curated collection of rights-cleared music and integrate it with other content.

Twitch says partners in this project include independent labels and distributors such as SoundCloud, Distrokid, CD Baby, Empire, UnitedMasters and Nuclear Blast, as well as artists such as Above & Beyond, mxmtoon, Porter Robinson, RAC and SwuM, among others.

"Soundtrack’s vast library of songs from fresh, independent artists are all cleared for worldwide listening during your live streams. Music from Soundtrack is separated into its own audio channel so you can play music on stream without worrying about your archives being muted or receiving strikes against your Twitch channel (or wherever else your content may go!)," wrote the company in a blogpost.

Creator empowerment

“We believe that Twitch is a companion platform to SoundCloud in that we are both passionate about helping creators make a living through their audiences online, on their own terms,” said Jeff Ponchick VP, head of repost at SoundCloud. “We are excited to partner with such a like-minded platform in an effort to build towards a uniform goal of creator empowerment."

A beta version of Soundtrack, compatible with OBS Studio v26.0, has been released, and Twitch promised upcoming versions with PC, Twitch Studio & Streamlabs OBS compatibility. "We will continue to expand Soundtrack’s availability to creators in the coming weeks," said the company.
